FUZZY SUN : meet with Kyle, singer of an inspired band

Tell me EMIE, who’s Fuzzy Sun

Fuzzy Sun is a music band from Stockport (like Blossoms), England. they’re going to perform soon with Inhaler during their European tour. We had the opportunity to talk with Kyle, singer and guitarist from Fuzzy Sun.

E : First, can you introduce yourself ?

K : Hey hey! Kyle here, the mic whisperer (singer) and string plucker (guitarist) from Fuzzy Sun.

E : Why this name Fuzzy Sun?

K : I came up with the name before the band even started. It comes from one of my all time favourite EPs called ‘Half way to a threeway’ by Jim O’Rourke. Fuzzy Sun is the first track on the EP and i just always thought it would be a great band name, and it pays a homage to a great tune.

E : How can you describe your music for those who don’t know you ?

K : Imagine yourself sat in an old movie theatre, the lights begin to dim as the red velvet drapes reveal the screen. A solitary convertible cruises down an open highway as a deep red sun creeps over the horizon… music begins to play. We like to think it sounds something like that, but if anyone hasn’t heard us, jump on Spotify and have a listen, let us know what you think.

E : What artists are you most inspired by ?

K : Personally the artists I love as a songwriter are people like John’Martyn, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, to name a few. In terms of musical influences Steely Dan, Hall and Oates, Prince, David Bowie, I could go on forever to be honest there are so many !

E : Can you tell us more about your last single « I Ain’t Right » ?

K : We described it as, « The soundtrack to a Richard Curtis movie set in studio 54 in the late 1970’s, starring John Travolta as he seeks to repair ties with an unrequited love. »

E : How do you compose ? lyrics or instrumental first ?

K : Usually we start with the music and then build from there, which can inform the tone of the tune but there have been times where a lyric has inspired a whole song. We don’t necessarily have one exact way of composing the songs, which is nice because it gives us some freedom.

E : You will be performing with Inhaler for their EU tour (Paris), how do you feel about it?

K : We can’t wait for it. This, will be the first time we have played outside the UK so we are beyond excited. Getting to support our mates while we do. It is even better, gonna be a good laugh!

E : To finish do you have something to add ? X

K : Thanks very much for asking us to do the interview. Also keep your eyes and ears peeled because we have loads of new music coming this year. A release at the start of February and an EP coming in April, all produced and recorded by ourselves, so we can wait to get those out. Big love, Fuzzy Sun 🌞

Thanks to Kyle for taking the time to answer theses questions.
